bounded in a nutshell

Ok, so maybe i'll never quite be the king (queen!) of infinite space -- my imagination simply isn't that powerful. And i don't have bad dreams. Not usually, anyway. But i'm just reminding myself now that the mind is its own place, and there are things one can do when feeling bounded in a nutshell, such as read, and sometimes these little attempts to reach out for something just beyond, actually do open up and lead somewhere. Sometimes.

One good thing about being older is that you've lived enough to know the structure of what happens when things don't go your way, and to know the structure of what to do in response. And, also, to know the structure of how things that don't go your way, sometimes lead to things that go far better than you'd ever thought your way could go. (Alternatively, they can also lead to dying in a plane crash. Life. Who knows?)
