hope
i was clearing out my wallet this morning -- taking out the Australian banknotes, putting back the Singaporean ones, emptying the coin compartment -- when i found a little metal ... well, i think maybe medallion might be a good word, although it was more like a tiny little plaque. On one side, the word 'hope'. And on the other, a pattern of raised dots that i've found is the braille lettering for 'hope'.
.
i don't remember where i got it from, who gave it to me (i don't think i bought it -- i don't buy stuff like this); i don't even remember when i acquired this thing, and i certainly don't recall putting it in my wallet. But clearly i must have picked it up at some point, and thought it worth keeping.
.
This find made such a good story that i told my students about it -- and managed to make it into a piece of advice that i hope they will take to heart and remember, especially in the tough times.
.
What exquisite timing. Thank You, Divine Author and Stage Manager. i needed to hear this right now. That there is hope. Whether in the big things, or the small.
