the slowness of trees

i love the old trees at my workplace. They're huge, branching, sprawling things, and overgrown with all sorts of florid ferns and soft mosses. The Ents in Tolkien probably looked something like that -- like they've been around forever. There's something so wonderful about the slowness of trees.
