november rain
Late October segueing into November, and the rain falls in its steady tropical way outside the safe shelters of our houses, and I wonder how it would feel to be out in the rain wandering homeless, instead of ensconced here, writing a blog entry about the end-of-the-year rain.
Blow, winds, and crack your cheeks! Rage! Blow!...
Thank God for small blessings. Or, perhaps, not so small, in the larger scheme of things. Food, shelter, clothing - to be here, in 21st century Singapore, and not to be scrabbling in the dirt pouncing on vermin for food, must surely be a miracle that has taken eons of social, cultural and biological evolution, the slow building and dismantling of empires, each small deliberate or accidental step heading towards this present moment, this culmination of all our yesterdays, writing a blog entry on November rain.
