both sides now
It's been such a strange few months, and things are still far from settled. i think i've been relatively sheltered from the fallout, frankly -- i can easily think of so many ways things could be much worse. And i can't say i'm not relieved not to have to go back (a triple negative! talk about convoluted...) -- as i was saying to PH in an email sometime ago, the US stint has not been easy for me, and it was just about getting unbearable when the evacuation happened. Although i still think it was the right decision (in fact, now that i'm into the writing for serious, i'm more convinced than ever that this is so) and i'd do the same all over again if given the choice.
.
i had a fit of MFA manuscript procrastination yesterday (nothing like working on a big project with a looming deadline to prompt an attack of procrastination), during which i opened the Poetry folder in my Dropbox archives and took a look at some old poems. And now i'm thinking, once i'm done with the MFA, i want to work towards a small poetry collection, a chapbook, perhaps. i already know the title. And i have more decent poems than i thought i did -- or perhaps my standards for myself have fallen. Whatever the case, it's a project i want to work on while revising and polishing the MFA manuscript. If i work at it, a 2022 publication date should be do-able. And then maybe another few years for the MFA book to be ready.

Dreams and schemes ...
