democracy
Reading about the protests in the US against the election results ...
.
And i'm thinking, well, this is democracy. The man won by a democratic process, unfortunately, and whether one likes it or not. And sure, you can protest against his policies, against his hate speech, against any number of things that he has said and done and you do not agree with. That's fine. But to protest against the result of a democratic election process. That's different. That's a contradiction if you say you believe in democracy. Ironically, it is exactly what the man himself said he would do if his opponent won: not accept the result of the electoral process. i remember all of you baying for his blood when he said that -- as well you should have. But now you're doing the same. Perhaps what you're really saying, then, is that you believe in democracy, but only when you're on the winning side.
