fanatic fandom

My other blog is a BMW. But this is a bandanna-pink Volkswagen Beetle - for flirty frivolous fun and fanatic fandom. This is where i get to play the bimbonic-geek and rave, enthuse, bitch and rant about anything and everything under the sun. Feel free to chip in!

cold green places

i'm starting to realise that holidays in cities don't really feel too much like holidays to me. Too much of the same thing, i guess: Singapore's so hyper-urban that what i want from a break is to go somewhere green. With water. That's the other thing i've realised i love. Lakes and rivers and seas. The next holiday will have to be somewhere green, with water. i'd like it to be cold-ish, too. Not too cold. Between 10 to 20 deg celcius would be just right.
.
There's definitely something about being too long in a completely built-up urban environment that slowly but surely withers the soul. You can almost feel your spirit drying up from all the hard dry surfaces -- the concrete, metal, glass, and plastic.
.
i guess i've just never adjusted as well as most Singaporeans to the completely-urban life. So many of my friends like taking 'city breaks' -- they'll head off for a few days to places like Bangkok, Taipei, KL, Shanghai, Hong Kong, to shop and eat. Not my idea of a holiday. Which is rather inconvenient, i guess, given that most of the cold green places with bodies of water in them, are rather far away.
