My other blog is a BMW. But this is a bandanna-pink Volkswagen Beetle - for flirty frivolous fun and fanatic fandom. This is where i get to play the bimbonic-geek and rave, enthuse, bitch and rant about anything and everything under the sun. Feel free to chip in!

new dead composer

So i've finally been converted to Sibelius, after owning a collection comprising some of his symphonies and other random orchestral music for over a year. All thanks to my annual culling of my CD collection - during which i finally got round to actually listening to the rest of the double-CD set besides Finlandia.

i am currently in love with the pizzicato bass line of the 2nd movement of his 3rd Symphony.

Sorry folks, but i just have to gush about this. And there's no one i know who would know much about his music - hence the use of this blogspace as a general dumping ground for much much tautologous over-enthusiastic enthusing.

Everyone - go listen to Sibelius so that we can gush about his work together!

Check out his 1st Symphony. It's an early work and though Tchaikovsky's influence is evident in parts, it's mighty grand stuff esp. when heard live.

yeah, i was planning a trip to HMV tomorrow to see if i can find the second in the 2-volume collection of his complete symphonies.

somehow, finding out that i can still fall in love with new music, new books, etc, makes me inordinately happy. God deliver me from the day when all i can think about are car loans, housing mortgages and spa treatments.

back from listening to his 1st Symphony. the feedback: yes, it is very lush romantic. his later stuff is very different.

i haven't heard orchestral music performed live, and well, for the longest time.

i need to get me a life.
