the syntax of things
i have always paid attention to the syntax of things: to the orderly arrangement of words in a sentence, sentences in a paragraph... Even my habitual use of the ellipsis represents an attempt to bring openness to a closure, or at least to mark it, pin it down, give it a shape and a name.
Perhaps there comes a point in every life when all those paragraphs have to turn to forests of ellipses, springing up fresh and green and untamed in a verdant flourishing of broken syntax.
since feeling is first
since feeling is first

to the syntax of things
will never wholly kiss you;
wholly to be a fool
while Spring is in the world
my blood approves,
and kisses are a better fate
than wisdom
lady i swear by all flowers. Don't cry
- the best gesture of my brain is less than
your eyelids' flutter which says
we are for each other:then
laugh,leaning back in my arms
for life's not a paragraph
And death i think is no parenthesis
e.e. cummings
