History is stranger than fiction.

More and more i am struck by the provisional nature of most knowledge, how difficult it is to really know anything with any degree of certainty.

The last year has been pretty much nuts on a global scale. i suspect that things will only get more insane.

Sometimes it feels like the only rational response to all this is to just hunker down and simply mind one's own business -- to just do what one is given to do, in one's own very limited sphere, to the best of one's ability, and not to care and pay any attention to the larger currents swirling around us. Anything else seems irrational and impossible to justify, given that these swirling currents are so impossible to read.
