good teachers

You know you've had a good conversation with a good teacher when you come away from that conversation, with a new clarity about ideas you've been mulling over for a long time. Somehow, good teachers have the ability to draw these ideas out of you in a way that helps you see them anew, or perhaps, in a way that crystallises them somehow, so that rather than an amorphous mass of stuff, you can look at what you've been thinking about and see its structures, how it all relates. Everything suddenly seems so obvious. And not because the teacher-figure has actually taught you anything new. It's all about eliciting something that's already there, latent, perhaps unformed. It's about formation.

i've been so lucky with my teachers and bosses. Definitely something to be deeply grateful for as this eventful-ish year draws to a close.
