where your art takes you

More and more i feel, i am a writer and a Christian. At the deepest core of my being, this is who i am. Exhilarating thought, and frightening too, at the same time.

An old friend told me the other day, as we were catching up on each other's lives, that artists should "go where (their) art takes (them)". Hmm. How did a banker know enough to understand so deeply something i had never even thought to think about before? At least, not consciously. He's right. Another exhilarating and frightening thought.
