dear Emily...

Is it too much to ask, to want to teach Emily Dickinson next year? I missed the chance to study her poetry in JC because our teacher decided to read GB Shaw instead (??!!!??). Is dear Emily going to lose out to some contemporary unknown in this latest round of the Most-Examinable-Writer contest?

Ok, not some contemporary unknown, then, but good ol' depressive Tommy with his milkmaids and cows. That's alright, I suppose - could have been worse. Emily will just have to wait till some other time.
