the stuff of nightmares

i've been watching nature documentaries all my life, but i don't think i've ever really seen one, until just a moment before. There's a programme about leopards on National Geographic right now which is making me feel real fear with its footage of leopards killing their prey, bringing up their young, mating. It's the deep-throated guttural snarls that did it - called out a primal, visceral terror.

Maybe i won't be going on safari so soon after all.
